Subcontracting Manager

Job Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the Mechanics and Electronics R&D subcontracting and supplier base management related activities from sourcing point of view at the APAC & China Product Creation Sites.
• Enables product creation projects and programs to efficiently use mechanics and Electronics subcontracting as one of the tools to get their targets fulfilled. In practice this means suitable supplier candidate and cooperation mode selections, agreement negotiations and agreement follow up during the subcontracted project period.
• Manage and develop several mechanics & electronics suppliers locally and globally according to the supplier strategies. Manage and further develop the relevant supplier base management processes.
• Overall business management and development of the selected mechanics & electronics including:
  • Agreement and business terms negotiations
  • Supplier capability, competence and capacity development
  • Supplier quality assessments and development according to Its Supplier Requirements and other requirements
  • Steering to suppliers focus areas as to (1) competence & capacity, (2) operational mode, (3) business and technology unit and (4) sites
  • Communication of business situation and requirements with suppliers
  • Steering of R&D projects commercial matters with the suppliers
  • Quick project ramp-ups with the suppliers
  • Cost competitiveness
• Acts as a contact point between project/program managers and supportive functions for creating and managing the subcontractor network. One of the responsibility areas is also to identify cost reduction opportunities and to have a good cost awareness and understanding how cost is structured in subcontracting area. Core Competence Required:

• Excellent general purchasing and supplier manager skills
• Need to know the principles of mechanics and electronics subcontracting.
• Must be experienced in different sorts of mechanics and electronics subcontracting deals and negotiations and must be able to create matching business models and solution offerings thus able to adapt oneself to unusual solutions.
• Must understand the global subcontracting scope and the link to terminal business product.
• Must have +5 years working experience.
• Must be willing to travel.
• Fluent in English and Chinese
• Close co-operation with Technology Platform and BG/BU R&D programs and projects.
• Negotiation and Influencing Skills
  • Excellent negotiations skills
  • Needs to be able to negotiate in fluent English, with on-line drafting
  • Experience of negotiations with big and demanding companies
  • Important to achieve the targeted results
  • Speed of negotiations is essential
  • Focus on the important matters
  • Must be able to cope with a big work load involving many agreements with many simultaneous negotiations
  • Must be able to cope with different sorts of people and find the relevant compromises by being able to influence the right people.
• R&D Subcontracting understanding
  • Must be experienced in different sorts of R&D subcontracting deals and negotiations
  • Must be able to create matching business models and solution offerings
  • Must understand the global R&D subcontracting scope and the link to NMP product portfolio
  • Must understand its R&D subcontracting policies and principles.
  • Technical understanding.
  • Industry Understanding on Technology Platform and BGs/BUs R&D and related processes
  • Must have good understanding of Technology Platform and BGs/BUs R&D and related processes and their strategies and strategic intents as well as the industry, its players, routines and business models
  • Must understand the important business drivers
• Project management experience and engineering background is preferable
